3-year jail term for former BDA official in bribery case

Bhubaneswar, Aug 29: Kushal Chandra Chatterjee, former Junior Town Planner (outsourced) at the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), has been convicted in a bribery case by the Vigilance Special Judge, Bhubaneswar.

The court sentenced him to three years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a monetary fine as part of the judgment.

Chatterjee was charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance under Sections 13(2) read with 13(1)(d) and Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. He was found guilty of demanding and accepting a bribe from a complainant in exchange for approving a building plan for the construction of a residential property.
