Patna, June 22: Bihar Police have arrested at least 28 individuals for allegedly attempting to manipulate the NEET-UG re-examination process conducted across the state, officials said on Monday.
The re-examination was held on Sunday under heightened security arrangements following the cancellation of the original NEET-UG test conducted in May amid allegations of a question paper leak and examination malpractice.
According to Additional Director General (Law and Order) Sudhanshu Kumar, 18 of those arrested were personnel linked to the biometric verification system deployed at examination centres. Investigators suspect that they collaborated with middlemen and dummy candidates by tampering with or bypassing verification procedures.
The arrests are part of an ongoing crackdown on attempts to undermine the integrity of the medical entrance examination. Authorities have intensified surveillance and enforcement measures to prevent any recurrence of irregularities that had triggered nationwide concerns over the fairness of the exam.
Police said further investigations are underway to identify other individuals involved in the alleged network and determine the full extent of the malpractice.
