
Baripada, July 24:Two minor girls were abducted from a village street in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Tuesday.
Police rescued the minor victims safely after a long-run manhaunt from the Karanjia area and detained a woman in this case.
The incident wreaked panic among the locals of Sharadha village under the Karanjia police limits last evening.
According to reports, the two minors had gone to a nearby shop to buy noodles. Meanwhile, some unidentified miscreants abducted them.
To everyone’s surprise, the kidnapper later sent a video call to the victims' families wherein they claimed to release the victim if and only if, the rescue team would be of small in size.
Following this, the distraught family members filed a complaint with the Karanjia Police praying a swift response.
Based on the video call and other leads, police intensified search operations in and around the village.The minors were finally rescued from the Hatadihi in Keonjhar distict safely from the abductors on Wednesday.
The girls will be handed over to their parents after health checkups, said Karanjia SDPO Nabakrushna Naik.
A woman was detained in this connection. Further investigation is underway, the SDPO added.
