Patna, May 9: In a touching tribute to India’s recent military response against terrorism, families in Bihar have named 12 newborns ‘Sindoor’ in honor of Operation Sindoor, the airstrike carried out by the Indian Air Force on May 6 targeting terrorist hideouts in Pakistan.
The operation was launched in retaliation for the deadly Poonch attack, which claimed the lives of Indian soldiers.
One standout story emerged from Katihar district, where a family named their newborn daughter ‘Sindoori’. Her father shared an emotional reflection:
“That night gave me two joys, India’s brave response to terrorism and the birth of my daughter. I’ll raise her to serve the country, maybe in the armed forces.”
Local residents are calling this more than a trend, it’s a symbol of grassroots patriotism. “It’s not just a name; it’s a living reminder of bravery and sacrifice,” said a neighbor.
Families say they will celebrate their children's birthdays alongside the anniversary of Operation Sindoor each year, blending national pride with personal milestones.
The surge in patriotic baby names shows how deeply the citizens feel connected to national events, and how they choose to pass that spirit on to the next generation.
