Puri, August 18: Security arrangements at the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri have once again come under scrutiny after a young man climbed onto the 'Anla Bedha', the upper structure of the temple.

The identity of the youth has not yet been ascertained. Wearing a shirt and trousers with a gamucha around his neck, he was spotted climbing onto the temple structure, raising questions over how he managed to breach the security cordon.

After the incident was noticed, the youth was safely brought down and detained at the Singhadwar Police Station. Police are questioning him to ascertain the circumstances behind the incident and are investigating the security breach.

This is not the first such incident at the Shree Jagannath Temple. Last year, a man from Bhadrak reportedly climbed onto the temple’s spire. Subsequently, another person from Uttar Pradesh also managed to climb the temple structure.

The repeated incidents have raised concerns over security arrangements at the centuries-old shrine and prompted questions about how such breaches continue to occur despite the presence of multiple layers of security.
