Nayagarh, Sept 6: Mystery shrouded over the death of a youth after his body was found lying in a pit in Dashapalla area of Odisha’s Nayagarh district this morning.

The deceased has been identified as Neelanchal Samal (31), a resident of Dahagaon gram panchayat.

According to reports, Neelanchal had come to Sriramchandrapur village, his maternal uncle’s house, to attend a feast. After the meal, Neelanchal went missing. His relatives assumed he might have gone to sleep somewhere.

This morning, as there was no sign of him, the family began searching and inquiring with the help of some locals. After some time, a farmer informed them that a body was lying in a pit.

Upon receiving the news, the family members rushed to the spot and found Neelanchal’s lifeless body. Thereafter, they immediately alerted the police.

Upon getting the information, police arrived at the scene and seized the body. Subsequently, it was sent to Dashapalla Community Health Centre (CHC) for post-mortem.

Though the exact reason behind his death is yet to be ascertained, his family members have alleged that Neelanchal might have been beaten to death.

Further investigation into the youth’s death is underway.
