Jatni, Jan 29: A woman Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel saved the life of an elderly woman (63) who fell on the platform while trying to board a moving train at Khurda Road Railway Station in Odisha on Sunday.
The elderly woman, identified as Manorama Srivastav, a resident of Nagpur in Maharashtra, was travelling to Puri with husband, son-in-law and granddaughter.
She fell down and got trapped between the moving train and the platform while she was boarding Puri-bound Kalinga Utkal Express in the afternoon. The mishap took place on Platform-4.
RPF head constable Hemabati Behera, who was on duty at the station, rushed there and pulled her out without a second thought.
Behera’s courage and timely intervention saved life of Manorama. She has sustained minor injuries.
Behera is winning laurels for her courageous act after video of the incident went viral.
