Keonjhar, Oct 25: A Rolling Tower Joyride turned fatal in Keonjhar town on Friday evening as at least 25 riders were stuck mid-air in Keonjhar Kali Puja fair.

After a crisis call from the joyriders, police & fire services personnel, safely rescued the riders with the help of cranes and cantilevers.

According to reports, people were enjoying the Kali Puja fair in Keonjhar last night while a ‘rolling tower’ was providing joyrides to the fairgoers. However, while the tower was escalating with its full capacity that is with over 20 riders, it stopped functioning at a hight of about 50 feet from the ground.

The abruptly halted tower thus stranded the joyriders for sometime while one of the stranded ones made a crisis call to police and fire services. He urged them to rescue the joyriders soon for the panic wreaked among the kids and children onboard.

Acting on it, local police, municipal officials, and the Fire Services team rushed to the spot and initiated a rescue operation. Using a municipal rescue vehicle and undertaking a coordinated effort, all the stranded passengers were safely brought off the joy-vehicle.
