Baripada, Sept 26: Odisha Police on Friday arrested a man for allegedly killing a woman on suspicion that she was practising witchcraft in Mayurbhanj district, an officer said.

The deceased has been identified as Sita Majhi.

The accused allegedly slit the woman’s throat with a blade at Kendumundi village under Karanjia police station on the evening of September 23, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Nabakrushna Naik said.

Police seized a motorcycle, the blade allegedly used in the crime and the accused’s shoes from the scene, the officer said.

Further investigation is underway.
