Wife and lover arrested for husband's murder in Odisha's Anugola

Anugola, Oct 24: Bagadia police have arrested a woman and her lover for killing her husband, Dilip Sethi, in Kanaloi village of Odisha's Anugola district.

The police have successfully solved the murder case of Dilip Sethi by arresting his wife, Saudamini Sethi, and her alleged lover, Khageswar Sahu, within 48 hours of the crime.

According to police reports, the murder was motivated by the illicit relationship between Saudamini and Khageswar, who hails from Badasahi in Nuagaon.

The pair allegedly conspired to eliminate Dilip because he strongly opposed their affair. Following a formal complaint lodged by the victim's mother, Sauri Sethi, a case was registered at the Bagadia police station, as Dilip was reportedly killed on the night of Dussehra.

The police investigation revealed that rat poison was allegedly mixed into Dilip's food on the night of the festival. Once he lost consciousness, he was subsequently killed. In a calculated attempt to establish an alibi and conceal their involvement, the two accused attended a village opera performance, returning home around 2:40 AM. Saudamini then tried to mislead people by falsely claiming that an unidentified intruder had murdered her husband.

A joint investigation conducted by the Bagadia police and the Anugola scientific team led to crucial breakthroughs.

The police seized an axe allegedly used in the attack, bloodstained clothing, and a piece of cloth suspected of being used to strangulate the victim. Police noted that technical evidence and collected materials played a pivotal role in confirming the involvement of the suspects.

Both Saudamini Sethi and Khageswar Sahu were subsequently taken into custody and presented before a court.
