‘We’re all human first’: Delhi Police shares open letter ahead of October 10 CJP protest

New Delhi, October 9: Ahead of the propsoed protest by the Cockroach Janata Party’s (CJP) at Jantar Mantra on October 10, Delhi Police on Friday issued an open letter to the citizens emphasising that protecting their safety is its responsibility and that police personnel, despite wearing uniforms, are human beings with families and loved ones.

In a post on X, Delhi Police said, “An Open Letter to Every Citizen. Because beyond every uniform, every opinion and every disagreement, we’re all human first.”

“Dear citizen, Aapki awaaz aapka haq hai, aur aapki Suraksha humara farz. Uniform ke peeche bhi ek insaan haim jiska apna Parivar hai, apne log h. Farq sirf uniform ka haim insaaniyat ka nahi,” the letter read.

(Your voice is your right, and your safety is our duty. Behind the uniform is also a human being, who has a family and loved ones. The only difference is the uniform, not humanity).

The message highlighted the humanity that transcends differences in opinions and perspectives, emphasising the importance of recognising shared human values despite disagreements.

The open letter comes amid heightened tensions over protests in the national capital after the Delhi Police denied permission for the Cockroach Janata Party’s (CJP) proposed demonstration at Jantar Mantar on October 10 over demands for accountability from Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar.

On Friday, Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) activist Abhijeet Dipke reiterated that the organisation would proceed with its proposed protest at Jantar Mantar on October 10 despite not receiving permission from Delhi Police.
