​​​​​​​Delhi, Jan 2:Visakh Refinery of @HPCL has inaugurated the demonstration plant of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production through co-processing of used Cooking Oil (UCO) in its Full Conversion Hydrocracker Unit leveraging the existing refinery assets.

As per HPCL’s roadmap, post CORSIA certification, Visakh Refinery will produce ~10 TMT per annum of SAF from January 2027, supporting our nation's commitment to decarbonising aviation and promoting a circular, waste-to-wealth economy.

Lauding the effort of the Refinery and HPCL, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri wrote on X,“ Yet another significant milestone in meeting India’s SAF blending mandate of achieving 1% blending by 2027, 2% by 2028 and 5% by 2030. This is a positive step towards our cleaner, greener and self-reliant energy future under the dynamic and decisive leadership of PM Sh @narendramodi Ji.”

“This pioneering initiative strengthens our countries energy #Aatmanirbharta, aligns with global CORSIA standards, and reinforces the nation’s Net-Zero targets”, Puri’s post on X added.
