Chennai, April 16: Ahead of the April 23 Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, TVK chief Vijay made a series of impactful promises in his party's manifesto. Among the key initiatives, he proposed a monthly financial aid of Rs 2,500 for women under 60 years of age. Additionally, he pledged 8 grams of gold to women for marriage, along with six free cooking gas cylinders annually per household.
The actor-turned-politician also emphasized his commitment to improving the lives of underprivileged brides, promising them a quality silk saree alongside the gold. Furthermore, he proposed interest-free loans of up to Rs 5 lakh for women-run Self-Help Groups (SHGs) to empower women entrepreneurs.
Vijay also vowed to establish a corruption-free, efficient governance system if his party is voted into power in his first-ever electoral contest.
A key focus of the manifesto was education. To curb school dropouts, he promised Rs 15,000 annually for mothers or guardians of children enrolled in government and state-aided schools, ensuring financial support to keep children in school.
With these promises, Vijay seeks to address pressing social issues and uplift the lives of women and families across the state.
