US Vice-President JD Vance praised understanding between India and Pakistan, credit diplomacy

Washington, May 10:  The US Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio have praised the diplomatic breakthrough between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack,

Both leaders have commended both nations for agreeing to a ceasefire.

 Vance lauded the efforts of President Biden’s team and credited Rubio for his role in facilitating talks. Rubio revealed that over the past 48 hours, he and Vance engaged with key Indian and Pakistani leaders, leading to a halt in all military actions and the decision to hold broader peace talks.

Prime Ministers Modi and Sharif were praised for their leadership, while External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar confirmed India's firm stance against terrorism and the agreement to cease hostilities.

Former President Donald Trump also claimed credit, citing US mediation in securing the deal. Pakistan’s Deputy PM Ishaq Dar confirmed the ceasefire, reiterating the country's commitment to peace. The White House emphasized continued US diplomatic efforts and called for de-escalation, with Secretary Rubio maintaining close communication with both sides.( With Agency Input)
