Bargarh, Oct 14: The iconic Bargarh Dhanu Yatra, recognized as the world's largest open-air theatre, will commence on December 24 and continue till January 3, 2026. The decision was finalized during a high-level meeting chaired by the Bargarh District Collector on Monday.

The 11-day-long cultural extravaganza will see artists from across the region perform mythological and historical acts in the streets and open spaces of Bargarh, transforming the town into a grand stage. A major highlight of the festival is the dramatic portrayal of the tyrant King Kansa, whose booming laughter and dramatic presence captivate audiences every year.

As per tradition, the selection of an artist to play King Kansa will be conducted in the coming weeks. Thousands of visitors from across the country and abroad are expected to witness the spectacle, which blends folklore, drama, and tradition in a unique and vibrant celebration.
