Mumbai, July 5 (2025) In a rare and symbolic display of unity, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) president Raj Thackeray came together on Saturday at a joint victory gathering titled ‘Awaj Marathicha’ in Mumbai. The event celebrated the Maharashtra government's decision to roll back the proposal to introduce Hindi alongside Marathi in state schools.
The rally, marked by strong regional sentiments and political messaging, also saw the presence of key members of both families — Aaditya Thackeray, Rashmi Thackeray, and Tejas Thackeray from Uddhav’s side, and Sharmila, Urvashi, and Amit Thackeray from Raj’s.
Addressing a crowd of enthusiastic Shiv Sainiks and MNS supporters, Uddhav Thackeray declared, “The distance between us was removed by Anaji Pant,” — a veiled reference to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. “We have reunited, and we will stand together — for Marathi, for Maharashtra.”
He issued a stern warning that any attempt to impose Hindi in the state would not be tolerated. Turning his focus to the BJP, Uddhav launched a fierce attack, accusing the party of exploiting its allies for convenience. “Their politics is simple — use and throw. But now, Raj and I will throw them out of power,” he declared, to loud applause.
Referring to his father, Balasaheb Thackeray, Uddhav added, “We have united in his name, to continue the fight he began — a fight against hypocrisy. If Balasaheb’s blessings weren’t upon you, where would you be today?”
He also dismissed BJP’s criticism of his commitment to Hindutva, asserting, “I have never abandoned Hindutva — nor my fight for the pride of Marathi people.”
The event marks a significant political moment in Maharashtra, hinting at a possible re-alignment of forces ahead of the next state elections.
