New Delhi, May 18:In response to the recent Ebola outbreak in parts of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Uganda, the Union Health Ministry is strengthening surveillance and preparedness across the public health system, particularly at points of entry, officials confirmed on Monday.
The ministry is closely tracking developments following the World Health Organization’s (WHO) declaration of the outbreak as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC).
Senior officials from the Union Health Ministry, including representatives from the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP), the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), and other relevant divisions, have assessed the situation and rolled out precautionary public health measures to mitigate potential risks.
