Burla, May 30: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan dedicated the Superspecialty Unit in the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla in Odisha’s Sambalpur district on Friday.
Gracing the occasion Union Education Minister said, with the new superspecialty facilities, the VIMSAR will be providing robust health services to the people.Meanwhile, he advised the students to join and serve in Odisha after their medical degrees.
“It will take Odisha’s development and health services to a greater apex”, Pradhan added.
The superspecialty hospital has been established on around three acres of land on the VIMSAR premises at an expenditure of Rs 150 crore.
The newly-established hospital has nine super specialty departments, modular OT, CT scan facility, ICU complex and several other modern facilities, he added.
The super specialty hospital has altogether 272 beds including 58 intensive care units (ICUs). It will provide better healthcare to sickle cell patients. The institute is likely to play a key role in medical education and research in the state.
Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling, PR Minister Rabi Narayan Naik and Sambalpur MLA Jay Narayan Mishra among others were present on the occasion.
