4 Crore Jobs in Five Years
In her presentation of Budget 2024, FM Sitharaman announced that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government aims to create over 4 crore jobs for the youth within the next five years. This initiative will be supported by five schemes with a total allocation of Rs 2 lakh crore.
The budget also includes a proposal to allocate Rs 1.48 lakh crore towards education, employment, and skilling initiatives. Additionally, a new central scheme will focus on skilling 20 lakh youths over the same five-year period.
Sitharaman highlighted that the schemes announced in the interim budget are progressing as planned. The Budget 2024 represents the first full budget since PM Modi’s government assumed power following the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. An interim budget was previously presented by Sitharaman in February.
This presentation of the Union Budget 2024 marks Sitharaman's seventh time delivering the budget since taking charge of India’s finances.
