Baripada, Dec 26 : Tragedy struck at Sitakund waterfall under Shamakhunta block, as two tourists drowned while visiting the site. The victims, who had come from Bhadrak district for a picnic, went missing after slipping into the waterfall on Friday morning.

Three tourists fell into the water, and one was rescued immediately. However, due to the depth and strong, cold currents of the pool, local residents were unable to save the remaining two. Following the incident, police and fire department personnel rushed to the site. The fire department successfully recovered the bodies of the two victims.

Both bodies have been sent to Baripada district headquarters hospital for postmortem. Authorities have urged visitors to exercise caution while visiting waterfalls and other natural sites.
