Bhubaneswar, December 1: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi informed the state assembly that 51 Bangladeshi infiltrators had been identified in various districts since the BJP-led government assumed power in the state. Of these, 49 have already been deported to Bangladesh.

In a written response to a question raised by BJD legislator Goutam Buddha Das, the Chief Minister clarified, "Since our government took office in Odisha, a total of 51 Bangladeshi nationals were identified across several districts of the state." Majhi's BJP government began its tenure on June 12, 2024.

The deportation process has been carried out following legal procedures, with 49 infiltrators being repatriated. However, two individuals are facing legal action—one in Ganjam and another in Kandhamal—for fraudulently obtaining Indian passports through counterfeit documents. Both are currently in judicial custody.
