Bhubaneswar, July 18: At least two Special Task Force (STF) jawans were killed four others were critical in Chhattisgarh during an encounter with Maoists.
The mishap took place when an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast in Bijapur district on the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border, late Wednesday night.
The deceased jawans have been identified as Chief Constable Bharat Lal Sahu and Constable Sater Singh. Jawans who sustained injuries due to the blasting are Purusottam Nag, Komal Yadav, Siyaram Sori and Sanjay Kumar, said police sources.
Following the incident,the injured ones were airlifted for higer treatment.
Worth mentioning, teams of the Special Task Force STF, District Reserve Guard (DRG), (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action) CoBRA, and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were carrying out a special search operation in the district. Meanwhile, more security forces have been dispatched to the area, and necessary arrangements have been made to ensure the treatment of the injured STF jawans.
