Cuttack, Jan 10: Cuttack and several other parts of Odisha were placed on high alert after multiple courts across the state received an anonymous email threatening to damage court premises. In response, security agencies immediately took action, intensifying checks and deploying specialized teams to prevent any potential threat.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo confirmed on Thursday that special bomb disposal squads, dog squads, and additional security teams were mobilized as part of standard security protocols. "A message was received as part of a security alert, and due to the sensitive nature of the matter, we are conducting thorough inspections as per protocol. Security agencies are continuing their checks as part of the ongoing drills," Dnyandeo said, adding that inspections were still in progress as authorities assessed the threat.

Director General of Police Yogesh Bahadur Khurania also addressed the situation, stating that the police had taken cognizance of the anonymous threat email received the previous day and had launched a comprehensive investigation. "As a precautionary measure, enhanced security and police checks have been implemented at all relevant locations. The situation is under close monitoring," he said, urging the public not to panic and to cooperate with authorities.

Following the threat, staff and other individuals were evacuated from the Odisha High Court and district courts for safety inspections. The bomb threat put the courts on high alert, with many advocates expressing concerns about safety.

Senior Advocate Prafulla Kumar Sahoo, speaking to ANI, expressed frustration over the disruption caused by the threat. "Work has been halted, and we are not sure about the progress of the investigation. If there is a bomb here, evacuating the premises could be problematic due to the large number of vehicles parked, which makes passage extremely difficult during an emergency. Furthermore, the traffic control is also out of order. We urge that security measures be tightened," Sahoo said.

As of now, security inspections are still ongoing, and authorities are working to ensure the safety of all those in and around the court premises. Further details are awaited as the investigation continues.
