Berhampur, Sept 15: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday took a ride on the Berhampur-Tatanagar Vande Bharat Express with school students after attending the virtual launching ceremony at Berhampur railway station.
As many as 150 students of the East Coast Railway Mixed Higher Secondary school, Khordha boarded the train along with the Chief Minister to take a free ride to the Khurda Junction during its inaugural run.
"The PM inaugurated two Vande Bharat trains for Odisha today. Berhampur-Tatanagar Vande Bharat Express will increase tourism and economic activities in the South region of the state,” said Majhi during journey in the train. He also interacted with the children.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off six Vande Bharat trainS at Tatanagar, during his visit to Jharkhand, including two Odisha specific trains.
Two Odisha-specific trains will connect Berhampur with Tatanagar and Rourkela with Howrah.
According to East Coast Railway (ECoR), Berhampur-Tatanagar Vande Bharat will have stoppages at Banspani, Keonjhar, Harichandanpur, Jakhapura, Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Khurda Road and Balugaon in Odisha.
The Rourkela-Howrah Vande Bharat will have only three stoppages between the originating and destination stations and pass through Chakradharpur, Tatanagar and Kharagpur.
