Bhubaneswar, May 28: Odisha Crime Branch has arrested two cyber fraudsters for duping a trader of ₹1.08 crore via fake online gaming platforms between 2022 and 2025.
The accused are identified as Sk Wasiul Islam alias Rohan (29) from West Bengal and Jyoti Prakash Pallai (36) from Bhubaneswar.
The victim, from Kalinganagar in Jajpur, was lured into fake cricket betting via WhatsApp and Telegram messages, gradually transferring funds from multiple accounts. The fraudsters used phishing websites to collect personal banking data and reroute funds to mule accounts.
Police have seized mobile phones, bank documents, IDs, and other evidence from the accused. Both were produced in court in Cuttack on Wednesday.
