Jeypore, June 22: Two coaches of the Jagdalpur-Bhubaneswar Hirakhand Express (Train No. 18448) became detached near Amagura, close to Jeypore town in Odisha’s Koraput district, on Sunday. The incident occurred due to a coupling failure, causing the Bhubaneswar-bound train to come to an unscheduled halt.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the passengers. The train had departed from Jagdalpur and was en route to Bhubaneswar when the technical glitch caused two coaches to decouple from the main rake near Amguda.
Following the incident, railway staff and repair teams reached the site promptly. Passengers remain safe and are awaiting the resolution of the issue.
In response, safety protocols have been activated. Track inspections were conducted, and alternative travel arrangements are under consideration. Railway officials are on-site to monitor the situation and expedite restoration.
The Hirakhand Express is scheduled to depart Jagdalpur at 16:30 hrs and reach Bhubaneswar around 08:20 hrs the following day, completing its journey in about 15 hours and 50 minutes.
