Jajpur, Sept 13: A tuition teacher from Kaimatia Panchayat under Bairi police limits in Jajpur district has been arrested for allegedly harassing a Class 10 student and repeatedly proposing to her.

The accused, identified as Soumya Ranjan Mohapatra, had been providing private tuition to several school students in the area. According to police sources, he allegedly made repeated romantic advances toward one of his female students and engaged in inappropriate behavior.

The minor girl reportedly informed her family about the teacher’s conduct. Following this, her family members lodged a formal complaint at Bairi Police Station.

Acting on the complaint, police launched an investigation and subsequently arrested Mohapatra. He was later produced in court.

The incident has once again raised serious concerns over the safety of students in private tuition settings and the trust placed in educators. Police said further investigation is underway.
