Bhubaneswar, April 21: A tribal troupe from Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Sunday hit BJP headquarters in Bhubaneswar protesting the party nominee fielded from the Bangiriposi Assembly Constituency.
The troupe headed by at least 5 senior BJP leaders of the district staged the unprecedented protest before the party state headquarters beating drums and resonating tom-toms in tune with bits of tribal folk-dance.
Through the innovative demonstration, they demanded before the state leadership to change the party nominee, finalized for the Bangiriposi assembly segment.
Source said, the state BJP had fielded Sanjali Murmu from the Bangiriposi seat a couple of days ago. However, at least 5 senior BJP leaders who are reportedly associated with the grass-root level organization, raised protest over it. According to them, Murmu who had even lost a Panchayat Samitee election in the past can’t be a befitting face from the BJP.
Responding to the media persons, one of the leaders said that as many as five premiere leaders of the party have been contributing a lot for the organization. However, the BJP Election Committee has never considered their candidatures.
“We will have no objections if the party declares one of us as the face for the Bangiriposi Assembly Constituency, to whom other party workers will morally support”, he added.
Response and clarification from the party leadership’s in this connection are yet to be received.
