Bhubaneswar, July 4: In a tragic incident,a young trash collector has gone missing being swept away in a swollen drain near Vani Vihar in Odisha’s Bhubaneswar city on Saturday.
The incident reportedly took place in the afternoon while the man, identified as Anil, was collecting trashes from the rain-water-swollen drain.
According to reports, Anil who used to pick up left out bottles and other reusable wastes for his livelihood, was collecting wastes from the main drainage network located beside the Utkal University today. Meanwhile, he slipped into the deep drain and was swept away by the high-current due to the influx triggered by the day-long downpour.
On being informed, an intensive rescue operation was carried out by the fire services personnel with the supervion of the BMC authorities. However, the man was nowhere found inside the drain despite a tiring search operation.
