Rohtak, Oct 20: Haryana Police have arrested a fourth accused in connection with the firing incident targeting Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff’s car in Mumbai. The latest arrest is reportedly linked to Anil Pandit, a suspected associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, who allegedly masterminded the attack.
Three accused were arrested from Kota, Rajasthan, earlier. According to reports, the newly arrested suspect, identified as Sameer, allegedly helped select the three men who carried out the attack on October 18.
Who is the newly arrested accused?
Police have reportedly arrested Sameer with assistance from Haryana Police. He is suspected of having links with Anil Pandit, who is reportedly operating from California and is associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Investigators suspect that the three alleged shooters Rehan alias Sukka, Phool Singh and Hrithik Kumar were lured into carrying out the attack with promises of money and opportunities to settle abroad.
Rehan was allegedly offered Rs 35,000 and the prospect of settling in a foreign country. Police sources have also linked him to previous cases under the Arms Act and theft. Rehan and Phool Singh had reportedly attempted to shoot a businessman in Amritsar earlier.
The three accused had allegedly been staying in Mumbai for around a month. During this period, they reportedly came into contact with Hrithik Kumar and were promised better employment opportunities abroad.
According to investigators, Anil Pandit allegedly sent money from overseas to fund their activities. The accused reportedly used online payments at shops to obtain cash. They allegedly communicated with Pandit through the messaging application JAGI, which reportedly allows users to communicate without providing conventional personal identification details.
After the firing incident on October 18, Rehan, Phool Singh and Hrithik reportedly reached Andheri railway station in Mumbai. CCTV footage allegedly captured their presence at the station.
Investigators believe the three planned to board the Pune–Jaipur Superfast Express and eventually escape to Nepal. However, police arrested them in Kota within around 24 hours of the incident.
The three accused are currently in Kota and are expected to be brought to Mumbai for further interrogation.
Investigators are also examining how the accused obtained firearms and ammunition. According to police sources, weapons were recovered from suspects linked to the case in Indore and Mumbai.
The accused allegedly received instructions through mobile phones, including location details and videos showing where weapons had been placed. The firearms were reportedly delivered in boxes left at garbage dumps, allowing the suspects to collect them without meeting the suppliers directly.
Police are also examining the alleged use of messaging applications and discarded SIM cards to avoid detection.
What happened during the firing incident?
The incident took place on Sunday evening, October 18, when Tiger Shroff was returning home after playing a football match near Pushpa Park in Mumbai's Juhu area.
According to reports, the 36-year-old actor was travelling in his BMW when several fans gathered around the vehicle. Two men allegedly opened fire at the car from different directions, firing around seven rounds.
One bullet reportedly struck the driver's left hand, while another shot aimed at the actor missed its target. The attackers allegedly escaped on a motorcycle with the help of a third accomplice who was waiting nearby.
Tiger Shroff reportedly took the injured driver to the hospital. The driver, identified as Firdous, was stated to be out of danger, while another injured person, Umesh Chauhan, received medical treatment at Nanavati Hospital.
The incident occurred around 350 metres from Juhu Police Station, triggering a major security and investigation operation.
The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack in a social media post. The post allegedly warned people associated with or working alongside actor Salman Khan of consequences.
Police sources have reportedly linked the firing to instructions allegedly issued by Anil Pandit and Harman Sandhu, both described as members of the gang.
However, the allegations and the suspected links are part of the ongoing investigation. Police are continuing to examine CCTV footage, the alleged financial trail, communications and the roles of the accused.
Authorities have formed 15 police teams to investigate the case and have stepped up security in the area.
