Puri, Sept 16: The Mahasnan ritual of Lord Jagannath and his siblings Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra was performed at the Srimandir in Puri on Wednesday following a ritual-related incident, leading to a temporary halt in public darshan for nearly an hour.
According to the Srimandir administration, the daily rituals were progressing normally after the opening of the temple gates in the morning. Following the Abakasha Puja, a servitor reportedly touched the Lord while wearing regular clothes.
As per temple rituals, the Mahasnan of the deity was subsequently performed.
Due to the Mahasnan ritual, general darshan of the deities was kept suspended for around one hour. The Srimandir administration informed that public darshan would resume after completion of the Mahasnan and the subsequent rituals.
The temporary suspension was part of the temple's ritual process, and devotees were advised to cooperate with the temple administration during the period.
