Bhubaneswar, May 13: In a shocking incident near the north gate of Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar, thieves broke into the Chitrakarini Temple late last night and made away with valuables worth several lakhs.

The burglars reportedly broke the main gate with stones and entered the sanctum to steal three gold necklaces, three mangalsutras, a gold chain, and a small idol of the deity.

They also took two cloth pieces, approximately ₹5,000 from the donation box, and a worship book containing nearly ₹8,000 in cash.

The temple priest has filed a complaint at the Lingaraj police station, and the authorities have registered a case. Police have begun investigating the incident to identify and apprehend the culprits.
