Lucknow, Mar 3: With Holi 2026 fast approaching, the country is already gearing up for a vibrant celebration of colours, music, and tradition. From temples to town squares, people are coming together to mark the festival that signifies joy, renewal, and unity.

In various parts of India, early Holi festivities have already begun, drawing both locals and tourists into gatherings that reflect the deep cultural significance of the occasion. In Himachal Pradesh, Holi celebrations kicked off early in Mandi, where a large number of devotees gathered at the Raj Madhav Rai Temple. The temple complex was filled with lively dance performances, devotional songs, and, of course, colourful celebrations as people played with gulal and soaked in the festive spirit. Visitors from all over India joined the locals to experience the joy of the occasion.

A tourist who visited Mandi to experience Holi shared his thoughts with ANI, highlighting his first-ever Holi celebration in the town. He praised the well-organized arrangements and noted that separate barricades for men and women ensured a comfortable experience for all. "This was my first Holi experience. I found Mandi's system very beautiful. There were proper barricades, with separate areas for women and men. I would tell everyone to come to Mandi and experience Holi here," he said.

In Madhuri, a unique version of Holi known as Widow's Holi was celebrated at the Gopinath Temple. Women joyfully played with colours and flowers, symbolizing togetherness and new beginnings. The celebration stood as a beacon of joy, offering a sense of unity and freedom.

Madhya Pradesh also witnessed a spiritual twist to the festival at Mahakal Van in Ujjain, where devotees dressed as Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati, Nandi, and other mythological figures. The celebrations were filled with gulal and spiritual fervour, creating a vibrant and divine atmosphere.

Meanwhile, in Uttar Pradesh, the famous Lathmaar Holi took place in Barsana, Mathura district, where women playfully chase men with sticks, following centuries-old traditions. This unique form of Holi attracts crowds from across the country, adding an element of both fun and cultural heritage to the celebration.

Holi, also known as the Spring Festival, marks the arrival of spring and the harvest season, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil. The festival traditionally begins with Holika Dahan, a bonfire ritual that signifies the death of Holika, the demoness, and marks the burning away of evil spirits.

As the festival draws near, preparations are underway for vibrant celebrations across the country, with each region adding its own special touch to the festivities, making this year's Holi a celebration of culture, unity, and joy.
