Angul, Jan 21: Following the tragic death of an elephant due to a bomb blast, the Angul Forest Division has launched a special operation, “Jibedaya Abhiyan”, to curb poaching and illegal wildlife activities in the region.

Within hours of the operation’s launch, forest teams conducted raids and seized deer antlers, deer skulls, two country-made guns, 10 bombs, traps, binding wires, and cutting machines. Several individuals were also detained for questioning on suspicion of involvement in illegal hunting.

On Tuesday, a raid at Deuli Behera Sahi under the Jarpada Range recovered additional weapons, explosives, and wildlife parts, demonstrating the forest department’s strict vigilance against poachers.

The Angul Forest Division confirmed that the campaign, initiated under the directives of the RCCF, will continue in the coming days to prevent further wildlife crimes. According to ACF Siddharth Jain, the operation was launched immediately after the elephant’s death and will persist until poaching and illegal activities are fully controlled.
