Kendrapara, July 26: A government school teacher in Odisha’s Kendrapara district has been detained by police for allegedly molesting several girl students, authorities confirmed on Saturday.
The incident occurred at Naga Narayan High School in the coastal village of Dangamal and has sparked widespread outrage in the community.
According to police, the accused teacher was taken into custody by officers from the Talchua Marine Police Station after the school’s headmaster reported the matter. The headmaster acted on a complaint filed by a group of Class 7 students, who alleged that the teacher had touched them inappropriately during classroom sessions and while checking their notebooks.
Approximately 15 students brought the issue to the headmaster's attention, urging immediate action to stop the teacher’s misconduct. In addition to the students' complaint, five parents also submitted written grievances to the headmaster on Thursday, echoing the same allegations.
Following the complaints, the headmaster promptly informed the Inspector-in-Charge of Talchua Marine Police Station. A police team visited the school, detained the teacher, and brought him to the station for questioning and further investigation.
