Bhubaneswar, Oct 17: The annual Mruttika exhibition in Bhubaneswar has become a major attraction this year, with people flocking to the event to purchase a wide range of terracotta and ceramic items. The exhibition, held at the IDCOL Exhibition Ground in the Unit 3 area of Bhubaneswar, has brought together over 350 artisans from across Odisha, showcasing their craftsmanship in terracotta, pottery, and other handmade products.

This year’s Mruttika exhibition has expanded to 210 stalls, offering a rich variety of items. Among the popular products are intricately crafted earthen pots, vases, decorative caterpillars, butterflies, and other beautiful household items, all available at affordable prices.

A standout feature of the exhibition is the display of affordable earthen pots in various sizes, perfect for everyday use or as decorative items. Visitors can find beautifully designed terracotta vases, water fountains, and quirky figures of caterpillars and butterflies, ideal for adding a rustic touch to homes and gardens. The exhibition also features a range of functional household items, from flower pots to storage jars, all made from eco-friendly clay and ceramics.

The exhibition offers a platform for artists from various districts of Odisha to showcase their work. Artists from Bargarh, Khordha, and other parts of Odisha, in particular, have made a significant impact with their detailed terracotta sculptures and pottery. Speaking about the experience, one of the artisans from Bargarh shared, "Our terracotta pieces are handmade with great care and attention to detail. We aim to preserve our traditional craft while offering modern designs that appeal to a wide audience."

An artist from Khordha added, “We are proud to showcase our work at Mruttika. The exhibition not only gives us a chance to sell our creations but also allows us to connect with people who appreciate the artistry behind each piece."

The Mruttika exhibition has also drawn praise from visitors who appreciate the variety and quality of the products on display. “I was amazed by the variety of terracotta items available, especially the water fountains and the clay lamps. The prices are reasonable, and it's a great way to support local artisans,” said a visitor from Bhubaneswar.

Another visitor remarked, “I love how the exhibition blends tradition with contemporary design. It's a perfect place to find unique home decor that reflects Odisha’s rich cultural heritage.”

This year, the Mruttika exhibition is expected to generate over Rs 3 crore in sales, reflecting the growing demand for terracotta and ceramic products. The main attractions this year include beautifully crafted forms of Lord Ganesha in ceramic and clay, which have drawn large crowds. The variety of earthen lamps on display has also added to the exhibition's charm, with many visitors eager to take home traditional lighting options for the upcoming festive season.

As the exhibition continues until October 19, it remains a must-visit for art enthusiasts and those looking to buy unique, handmade items at affordable prices. With its wide range of products and the presence of skilled artisans, Mruttika is not just a market, but a celebration of Odisha's rich cultural legacy.
