Dhaka, Aug 24: After the International Cricket Council (ICC) decided to shift the upcoming T20 Women's World Cup 2024 from Bangladesh to United Arab Emirates (UAE), due to the recent political unrest and violence, Bangladesh skipper Nigar Sultana Joty reacted that she will miss the home support.

Nigar stated she and her teammates will be deprived of playing a global ICC event in front of a passionate home crowd.

The ICC was compelled to shift the T20 Women's World Cup 2024 following the political unrest in the Asian nation and several countries imposing travel restrictions to Bangladesh.

But Nigar reacted saying it could have been a great privilege to play the ICC multi-nation global event in front of an emotional, passionate and cricket loving home crowd.

He also shared her thoughts on the election of new president of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Faruque Ahmed. She stated she is glad and excited that a professional cricketer has been elected as the president of BCB.

Worth mentioning that Faruque, who is the first BCB president to have played any competitive cricket, represented Bangladesh in seven ODIs between 1988 and 1999. He also served BCB as chief selector on two terms earlier.

Bangladesh captain Nigar, who plays as a wicketkeeper batter, has appeared in 47 ODIs and 99 T20Is for the Asian country.
