Bhubaneswar, January 10: Under the banner of “Operation Jeevan Raksha,” Puri Police launched an evening enforcement drive in the city subdivision area on Friday to tackle traffic violations and ensure public safety. The initiative, spearheaded by the Office of the Inspector General of Police, Central Range, Cuttack, led to the filing of 33 cases in Puri.

During the operation, four cases of drunk driving involving autos were detected, and five cases of motorcycle drunken driving were filed. In addition, three instances of triple riding were observed, and five cases related to modified silencers were registered. Police also tackled public drinking, registering 16 cases.

The drive aimed to raise awareness about road safety and enforce stricter adherence to traffic rules.

Meanwhile, Jajpur Police conducted intensive vehicle checks across the district, verifying 304 vehicles and collecting fines totaling ₹40,500.

As part of the initiative, traffic awareness programs were held at Dharmasala and Dasarathpur, focusing on road safety and discipline. Riders and drivers were educated on the importance of wearing helmets, using seat belts, and staying alert while driving.
