Suicide of Nepali girl student at private university in Bhubaneswar: Body handed over to family

Bhubaneswar, Feb 19: After conducting the post-mortem at AIIMS, the body of Nepali student Prakriti Lamsal (20), who allegedly committed suicide at the hostel campus of a private university in Bhubaneswar, was handed over to her family members late last night.
Later, her body was taken to Nepal by her family members for the last rites.
Meanwhile, three employees and two security guards of the university, who were arrested for allegedly behaving inappropriately towards protesting students, were granted bail by a local court.
The university issued an apology and terminated the services of two women employees in response to their alleged inappropriate behavior.
It is worth mentioning that the Nepali girl student identified as Prakriti Lamsal was found dead at the hostel campus of a private university in Bhubaneswar on February 16.
The incident sparked widespread outrage among students, with many taking to the streets to demand justice for the deceased. Angry students blocked roads near the campus demanding for the arrest of the deceased's boyfriend.
Following a complaint lodged by Prakriti’s cousin Siddhant Sigdel (24), who is also a third-year student at the university, police arrested Advik Srivastava (21) for allegedly harassing the girl.
