Bhubaneswar, Sept 19: Banks and ATM counters in Odisha are witnessing an unprecedented rush from yesterday as thousands of women are lining up to withdraw Subhadra Yojana money, a day after PM Narendra Modi launched the distribution of first instalment on Tuesday here in the city.
As most of the beneficiaries had not received any credit message from their banks and were eager to check their balance. So, they queued up at nearby Banks and ATM counters, said a bank official.
Several rural banks have deployed private security personnel and police to manage the crowd and avoid a stampede.
Most of the beneficiaries do not have debit cards and they rushed to the banks to check and withdraw the amount, said banker Sritam Rath.
In Jajpur, a mad rush of beneficiaries was seen at the Baliapal branch of Indian Bank. The beneficiaries lined up outside the bank since early in the morning to withdraw the first installment of the scheme.
