Bhubaneswar, April 17: In a major crackdown, the Special Task Force (STF) in coordination with the Drug Control Department conducted a high-intensity raid at Phulnakhara on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, seizing a large quantity of illegal codeine-based cough syrup.
Acting on reliable inputs, officials intercepted a consignment at a VRL Logistics hub and recovered 8,400 bottles of Rexcron-T cough syrup packed in 71 cartons. The consignment was reportedly being transported from Ahmedabad to Bhubaneswar and was intended to be further dispatched to Balasore.
Before the shipment could reach its destination, STF and Drug Control officials swooped in and seized the contraband.
The raid was carried out in the presence of Cuttack Additional Tehsildar Sharmistha Das, who acted as the Executive Magistrate. STF DSP Pradeep Raut, DSP Manas Das, Inspector Jitu Besra, along with Drug Inspectors Chandan Giri, Chinmaya Jena, Ananya Aich, Rosalina Samal, Sangita Pattnaik, and Assistant Drugs Controller Pravesh Lenka were part of the operation.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
