Bhubaneswar, Sept 4: The state government has issued new guidelines regarding financial assistance for students who suffer accidents.

Under the new provisions, an assistance amount of ₹2 lakh will be provided in cases of death or permanent disability. Students requiring transfer to another hospital for better medical treatment will be eligible for ₹30,000, while ₹10,000 will be provided towards transportation expenses.

Students will also receive free treatment at government medical facilities under the provisions.

The assistance amount will be paid to the student’s mother or father. In cases where both parents are not available, the financial assistance will be provided to a guardian identified by the District Collector.

Approval from the Headmaster, District Collector, District Education Officer (DEO), and Block Education Officer (BEO) will be required for the release of the assistance. The amount must be disbursed to the eligible guardian within 24 hours of approval.

According to the new guidelines, the scheme will cover students from Shishu Vatika (pre-primary) through Class 12.
