Hockey stars Lalremsiami and Rajkumar Pal win prestigious sporting honours

Hockey India has expressed deep pride after forward Lalremsiami and midfielder Rajkumar Pal were chosen to receive the 2025 Arjuna Award. This prestigious national honour recognizes their outstanding performances on the international stage over the past four years. Both athletes feature among the 17 sportspersons selected across various disciplines to receive their awards at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Consistent Excellence on The Turf

Hailing from Kolasib in Mizoram, Lalremsiami has grown into a crucial player for the national women's team since her debut in 2017. She contributed significantly to India's historic fourth-place finish at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Her medal cabinet includes a silver from the 2018 Asian Games and gold medals from the Asian Champions Trophy in both 2023 and 2024. This latest recognition highlights the growing impact of athletes from the Northeast in shaping modern Indian sports history.

Rajkumar Pal, representing Karampur in Uttar Pradesh, has also delivered exceptional results since his international introduction in 2020. The talented midfielder played a vital role during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, helping the men's team secure a bronze medal. He recently scored a memorable hat-trick against Malaysia during the 2024 Asian Champions Trophy in China and helped India win the 2025 Asia Cup in Bihar.

Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey noted that both players have shown tremendous dedication and consistency while representing the nation. He described the recognition as a fitting tribute to their hard work. Secretary General Bhola Nath Singh echoed these thoughts, adding that their achievements reflect the deep talent pool in Indian hockey and will inspire younger generations to embrace the sport.
