Bhubaneswar, Dec 11: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi distributed appointment letters to 591 newly recruited candidates at the state-level recruitment fair held today.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister offered three key guidelines to the new appointees. Emphasizing the government’s commitment to integrity and duty, he urged them to remain free from corruption and uphold public service values.

He reminded the recruits that once appointed, they must work as true public servants. “Officers are the face of the government at the grassroots level; therefore, safeguarding the government’s image is your responsibility,” he said. He added that political bias should never interfere with official work, warning that the government will not tolerate any disruption caused by such behaviour.

Reiterating the state’s zero-tolerance policy on corruption, Majhi said the government would take strict action against corrupt officials. “Those involved in bribery or corruption have faced jail, and there will be no compromise,” he said. He mentioned that the Vigilance Department is fully active and the conviction rate has crossed 50 percent. “Becoming a good human being is a challenge, and you must overcome that challenge,” he advised.

The Chief Minister reiterated the government’s promise of creating 1.5 lakh government jobs in five years. As part of this commitment, the state has targeted 65,000 appointments in the first two years.

So far, in the first 16 months of the current government, 37,325 candidates have been appointed through 12 recruitment fairs. With today’s 13th recruitment fair offering appointment letters to 591 more candidates, the total number of appointments has reached 37,916 within 17 months.
