
Bhubaneswar, Sep 4: Former Minister Snehangini Chhuria has been appointed as the new president of the Biju Mahila Janata Dal (BMJD), the women’s wing of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Odisha.
The announcement was made on Thursday through an official statement by the BJD. Party president and former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik approved Chhuria’s appointment with immediate effect.
In addition to Chhuria's elevation, Sumitra Jena, Rajashree Mallick, and Lekhasri Samantsinghar have been appointed as senior general secretaries (Women Affairs). 12 general secretaries (Women Affairs) have also been appointed, including Sulochana Das, Sulata Deo, Barsha Singh Bariha, Sarmistha Sethi, Shreemayee Mishra, Lopamudra Buxipatra, Minati Behera, Kasturi Mohapatra, Padmini Dian, Dipali Das, Ranjita Sahu, and Gitanjali Bastia.
These appointments are seen as part of the party's efforts to strengthen its organizational structure and women’s representation ahead of future political challenges.
BJD announces key district-level appointments
In Dhenkanal, Nrusingha Charan Sahu has been appointed as the new District President, while Sandip Sarangi will serve as the Working President.
In Koraput, senior leader Jhina Hikaka has been named District President. Durga Mishra and Prasad Bidika have been appointed as Working Presidents for the district.
For Rayagada, the party has appointed Jagannath Saraka as District President, with Gayadhar Pualo and Ranjit Panigrahi taking charge as Working Presidents.
