Bhubaneswar, Nov 3: Renowned Odia singer Debesh Pati has been arrested from the city for allegedly having sexual relation with a woman on the pretext of marrying her.
He was forwarded to court on Thursday after his bail plea got rejected in a local court. He was arrested on Wednesday night after the victim filed a complaint in this regard at Nayapalli police station.
Debesh, a resident of Jajpur district, has been staying in Nayapalli area of Bhubaneswar. The victim, a resident of Bhadrak district, was persuing her MBA course in a city based private college.

Debesh came in contact with the girl over phone through a friend and befriended with her.
Later, they fell in love and Debesh allegedly made physical relation with her on the pretext of marriage and she got pregnant. Besides, he took Rs 5 lakh from the victim on several occasions, said police.
Later, the complainant got to know that Debesh was in relationship with a singer of Odia film industry.
Debesh tried to abort her pregnancy but the victim did not agree following which the accused gave him some medicine and threatened to make their intimate videos viral, the complainant said.
