Paradip, Sept 17: The cargo vessel MV Densa Lion has been detained at Paradip Port following an order from the Odisha High Court over unpaid maintenance dues amounting to Rs42.72 lakh. The ship is currently anchored at the Paradip International Cargo Terminal (PICT) berth.

The detention comes after Waypoint Port Services Limited filed a complaint regarding the non-payment of dues by the vessel’s operating company. Acting on the petition, the High Court directed the vessel’s arrest until further notice.

According to port officials, the MV Densa Lion had docked at Paradip to load a consignment of iron plates. However, it will remain at anchorage pending the next court hearing.

This incident marks at least the fifth such detention at Paradip Port in the past year. In previous cases, three ships were released after their operators reached out-of-court settlements and cleared outstanding payments. The fate of the MV Densa Lion will now depend on the outcome of the upcoming legal proceedings.
