Kabisuryanagar, Feb 6: A sense of panic swept through the bustling Deogaon village fair under the Kabisuryanagar police station limits in Ganjam's Aska sub-division when one of the coaches of a popular “Minabazar” train swing ride suddenly malfunctioned, causing the entire structure to collapse and injuring multiple thrill-seekers.

The incident occurred during peak hours when families and youngsters were enjoying the ride at the local mela. Eyewitnesses described chaotic scenes as the ride - a miniature train-style swing attraction that moves in a circular or swinging motion - unexpectedly malfunctioned.

According to reports, one of the coaches detached or failed structurally while the ride was in motion, throwing riders off or trapping them in the wreckage.

At least four people were injured in the mishap, some with serious wounds. The victims were initially taken to the nearby Kodala Community Health Centre for immediate treatment. Those with more severe injuries were later transferred to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur for specialized care.

Fortunately, no fatalities have been reported, but the condition of the seriously injured remains under close observation. Authorities were alerted about the incident, and a team from Kavisuryanagar police station arrived quickly to launch an on-site investigation. Preliminary reports suggest that a mechanical failure may have been the cause of the accident.
