Bhubaneswar, Sept 29: ‘Seva Setu’ campaign will be organized across Odisha from October 1 to 10 with the objective of ensuring easy, simple and swift access to government services and public welfare schemes for eligible citizens.
The initiative is part of the ongoing ‘Seva Sankalp’ campaign, being observed from September 17 to October 17 to mark the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Housing and Urban Development Minister Dr. Krushna Chandra Mahapatra is the State Coordinator of the ‘Seva Sankalp’ campaign.
Providing details about the initiative, Dr. Mahapatra said that through ‘Seva Setu’, eligible citizens will be able to access information on various Central and State government schemes and services and avail themselves of registration, application submission and other necessary assistance at a single location.
Extensive arrangements have been made across the state to ensure that government services reach people at their doorstep and eligible beneficiaries are effectively linked with welfare schemes.
Organized with the vision of “From Citizen to Beneficiary—All Services at One Place,” the ‘Seva Setu’ initiative will focus on identifying eligible citizens and connecting them with the government schemes and services for which they qualify. ‘Seva Setu’ camps will be organized at the block level within each Assembly constituency, where information and assistance relating to relevant Central and State government welfare schemes and services will be made available.
Citizens visiting the camps will be assisted in registering themselves as beneficiaries for schemes for which they are eligible. Necessary support will also be provided for completing application processes and other formalities, wherever required. This will help reduce the need for citizens to make repeated visits to different government offices to access the benefits of welfare schemes.
In addition, ‘Seva Setu Kendras’ will be established in every block and Assembly constituency to provide citizens with information and assistance relating to government schemes, services and facilities under one roof. These centres will also facilitate registration, application submission and other necessary processes.
A detailed programme calendar has been prepared for each Assembly constituency and block to ensure smooth implementation of the campaign. Necessary arrangements have also been made for the appointment of nodal officers, preparation of databases of eligible beneficiaries, inter-departmental coordination at the camps, and deployment of required human resources and logistics.
These measures will facilitate the identification of eligible citizens and ensure that the benefits of government schemes and essential services reach the intended beneficiaries in a timely and transparent manner. Necessary guidance will also be provided regarding the organization of camps, identification of relevant schemes, and the processes for verification and approval of eligible beneficiaries.
In a statement, Dr. Mahapatra said, “Our endeavour is to further intensify public outreach and service activities so that the benefits of the welfare schemes of both the Central and State governments reach the last person in society. Prosperity through service, development through resolve, and a developed Odisha through public participation leading to a developed India—this is our goal.”
He further said, “We do not view this campaign merely as a programme; it is a mindset, a responsibility and a long-term resolve. We aim to create a new environment of service in every block, panchayat and village of Odisha. We want to strengthen our bond with the people through service, accelerate the pace of development through public participation and, with everyone’s collective effort, build a prosperous, empowered and developed Odisha.”
From October 1 to 10, citizens will be able to access information, registration facilities, application support and other necessary assistance relating to various government schemes and services at a single location through ‘Seva Setu’. As an integral part of the ‘Seva Sankalp’ campaign, the initiative seeks to bring government closer to the people and ensure that eligible citizens are connected with the benefits and services meant for them.
