Bhubaneswar, April 20: The second National Lok Adalat of 2026 will take place on May 9 at all trial and divisional court premises across Khurda district.
This Lok Adalat aims to provide an opportunity for the amicable settlement of a wide range of pending cases, including compoundable criminal matters, plea bargaining cases, cheque bounce disputes, debt recovery issues, motor accident claims, traffic challans, labour conflicts, and disputes related to public utilities such as electricity and water.
Additionally, it will address matrimonial and family disputes (excluding divorce cases), land acquisition issues, employment and pension-related cases, revenue disputes, intellectual property (IP) matters, consumer grievances, and various other civil and criminal cases pending in district and sub-divisional courts.
In addition to resolving ongoing cases, the Lok Adalat will allow the public to file fresh cases directly, even if they are not yet pending in any court. These include loan recovery issues, succession cases, traffic violations (including virtual court/e-challan matters), labour and employment disputes, as well as issues related to electricity, water, and land acquisition.
Other areas of focus will be public utility disputes, matrimonial issues, mediation in marital and domestic violence cases, commercial and arbitration disputes, tenant conflicts, and land-related matters. Such cases can be submitted through the District Legal Services Authority or Taluk Legal Services Committees.
The District Legal Services Authority has urged the public to submit their cases in advance to facilitate timely resolution during the Lok Adalat session. It also emphasized that the proceedings are free of cost and that the decisions made during Lok Adalats are final and binding.
