Bhubaneswar, January 20: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday congratulated Nitin Nabin on his election as the BJP national president.

The Chief Minister greeted Nabin at the party headquarters in New Delhi with flower bouquet after he took charge as the president of the BJP in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari and Amit Shah, among others.

Taking to the ‘X’, CM Majhi said, “Heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the newly elected National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Shri @NitinNabin ji, on assuming this prestigious responsibility.”

“Your able guidance and organizational experience will undoubtedly provide even greater expansion and depth to the party's roots. I am fully confident that under your energetic leadership, the resolve of 'Antyodaya' will be realized, and we will all succeed in taking the vision of 'Viksit Bharat' of our esteemed Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji to new heights,” wrote Majhi.

At 45, Nabin became the youngest leader ever to occupy the post of national president in the BJP.

Nabin's election came more than a month after he was declared the working president of the BJP. He was holding the Road Construction and Urban Development portfolios in the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar Government at the time. He later resigned from the State Government.

Nabin is an undefeated five-time MLA from the Bankipur Assembly Constituency in Bihar.

He particularly drew the attention of the party central leadership as the party co-in charge of the November 2023 Chhattisgarh Assembly elections, where the BJP secured a landmark victory by defeating Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel of the Congress.
